Hello all you sweet people and welcome to your next stop in this week’s Case-ing The Catty Crew blog hop. Are you craving a cupcake or a lollipop yet? No doubt you are inspired to create some bright and fun cards with this week’s projects, using the How Sweet It Is section of the catalogue as our inspiration this week.
Sadly there has been very little crafting time for me in the last two weeks as I’ve had my two little ones sick with a yucky cold. Summer colds are just the worst, aren’t they? Too hot to bunker down in bed all day, which is what you really want to do. So my card this morning was made in a few stolen moments – the perfect time to CASE a design. I absolutely love the bright and fun How Sweet It Is DSP and the card at the top of the above catalogue image really caught my eye.
To switch it up a bit I took the design of the sample card and changed it to be a fun fold card. I folded the front panel back in half and adhered some layered rectangles as a front panel, using two nestled inside each other to make a frame for the very front.
The gorgeous purple confetti paper is used on the back and front panels, the Coastal Cabana spots on the front, and the sweetie jar is fussy cut straight from the DSP. Yes, I fussy cut something (insert shocked gasp here). The matching dies will cut these elements out neatly but I don’t have those so fussy cutting it was! The layering of the elements pretty much follows the catty example exactly, but the fun fold puts a bit of a different spin on it.
A panel of Whisper White is adhered to the very back for writing on. This way there is still plenty of space for writing a greeting without it interfering with the look of the card when displayed or seen from the front.
These bright, fun colours are so sweet! I love the way the coordinating colours and patterns make it so easy to layer together for a fun project. And it’s even easier when the catty gives you such great examples to CASE!
Keep on hopping along to see more gorgeous projects this week, with Michelle’s fun card up next.
And don’t forget to play along – just add your CASE’d creation to our Facebook page via the link below.
