Colour Inkspiration #54 – Black & White with a Pop

I’m playing along this week with this fabulous challenge at Colour Inkspiration, which calls for black and white with a ‘pop’ of colour. And of course, there was no way I could resist such a fabulous challenge  – if you saw my wardrobe you would totally understand that this is my colour jam!!

For my card I’ve chosen to create a black and white Fabulous Flamingo with a pop of Flirty Flamingo.

I love the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set, and with it about to retire with the end of the 2018 Catalogue next month I thought I had better give it some love. The stamp I’ve used is normally used to add colour in with the other two-step stamps in the set, but I think it looks fabulous stamped on its own in Memento Black, don’t you? It has an old school animal drawing look to it like this.

My strongest black & white association with Stampin’ Up! is the Petal Palette DSP from the 2018 Occasions Catalogue. I loved all this beautiful monochrome paper so much and have a tidy little stash which I often dip into for projects. My little cluster of flowers and leaves are from the Needlepoint Nook stamps and dies in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. I love this suite and am sad it won’t carry over into the new Annual Catalogue, but it will be staying on my shelves, for sure. As they are DisINKtive style stamps they stamp beautifully in Memento Black as it is drier pad than the normal colour pads.

For my ‘pop’ of colour the obvious choice was Flirty Flamingo. I’ll admit it is not my favourite colour but I’ll also admit it so often is just that perfect bright pink/orange that you need to pop on a card like this. Maybe it’s growing on me…?

I had fun playing along with this challenge and I’ve loved seeing everyone’s black & white & ‘pop’ creations on the CI facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by,
