It’s Friday night, people! And the best kind of Friday night, since it’s time for our Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop for May. This month we are joined by the fabulous Teneale Williams, who makes awesome cards and shares them on her gorgeous website and we are very pleased to have her as our guest teamie. You may be hopping on over from her website, and I’m thrilled to have you here. Make sure you hop through all the team’s projects this evening. We are saying goodbye, in various ways.
I’ve taken the theme a little literally to start with and have made an actual goodbye card – which I don’t think I’ve done before. But it seemed like the appropriate way to start what I am calling my farewell tour of the 2017-19 In Colours from Stampin’ Up! that I have to share with you this evening.
Yes that’s right, it’s time for us to say Bye! to Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, and Lemon-Lime Twist. I’ve really enjoyed working with these colours for the last two years. I’ve seen a lot of people lamenting the demise of Lemon-Lime Twist, and while it’s fun and bright, I won’t be as sad to see it go as I am to lose Berry Burst and Tranquil Tide. I have stocked up on those two!!
There have been several gorgeous DSP collections using these colours the last two years, but I chose to stick with solid cardstock for my card so I could showcase my absolute all time favourite dies, the Large Letter Framelit Dies, which are TRAGICALLY retiring this month. There is no way I am saying Bye! to these, though. I mean, look at them!! They are the (crafting) bomb.
Since I’m giving the In Colors one last hoorah, I thought I’d make a series of cards of the same design but in each of the colours (I do love a matching set of cards). When I was looking for a stamp to use for the design I had in mind, I discovered a new favourite stamp which I’ve had sitting on the shelf for months and not inked up until today, and is also about to retire! Doh!
The stamp is Very Vintage which is a hostess set from the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue and how did I not use this before?? It is absolutely gorgeous. This large flower image stamps beautifully and was the perfect choice to fill in this stitched rectangle panel (the Rectangle Stitched Framelits just might take the place of the Large Letters as my favourite current dies).
I’ve made each card with a coloured base, a panel of Whisper White run through the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (also thankfully carrying over), and a 2″ banner in the In Color DSP.
A little white bakers twine, and finally a small stitched rectangle with the Happy Birthday sentiment from Very Vintage (again, how have I not been using this on everything?) with white heat embossing.
Let’s shine a little spotlight on that flower stamp, shall we? Because *gasp*! Soooo pretty. Hostess sets so often end up being some of my favourites.
So that’s my farewell tour of the 2017-19 In Colors. And now I’m actually feeling quite sad about saying goodbye to them.
Next up on our hop is Lisa and I can’t wait to see what she has created. She makes such clever cards. Make sure you hop on over to her next and keep on hopping through the whole team. But first, drop me a comment below and let me know which of the In Colors you’re most sad to say goodbye to.
Thanks for stopping by,
Siobhan.
