One of my favourite sources of inspiration in the Stampin’ Up world is the Just Add Ink design team and their weekly challenges. It is such a creative bunch of cardmakers and they always come up with fun themes for their challenges. I often save their challenges and use them as a jumping-off point for making something, although this is often long after the actual challenge period has closed. But wouldn’t you know it, this week not only was there a fabulous sketch to use but I also found myself with some extra crafty time up my sleeve (may or may not have “found” this time by completely neglecting Mount Washington in my laundry) and I’m able to join in! Yay, me!
This is this week’s fabulous sketch, designed by my crafty buddy and fellow CTC Crew member Tina Gillespie, and you can see all the JAI crew’s creations and the challenge entries here.
I love a good sketch and I love layers but find them hard to put together myself, so this was such a great guide for my card. I’ve been wanting to ink up the Sale-A-Bration set Rise and Shine since I got it but haven’t had a chance, so combined it with some pretty DSP for this card.
The main colours I’ve used are Whisper White for the base and top layer, with some Highland Heather gingham for the mat layer and one of the DSP strips. The cup is stamped in Petal Pink, a colour I don’t really get along with, to be honest, but it just seemed like the right choice here!!
The stitched circle of DSP is a pattern from Best Dressed. This has been my surprise love DSP from the Mini Catalogue, and if you don’t already have it and love it then YOU MUST get it before it retires. It is so beautiful, especially if you like your florals more bright and modern like I do.
This sentiment from Rise and Shine seems perfect for a card at the moment. So many lovely friends that I am hoping to be able to hang out with again soon.
Behind the layers, I wrapped a little yellow twine, and I love the way this extra line of detail lifts the whole design. Such an awesome detail in the sketch, Tina!! I’ll definitely be creating more with this one.
Thanks for stopping by,
Let’s hang out again soon 🙂
