Happy Sunday, crafty friends! It’s time for another round of CASEing the Catty! This week we are bidding adieu to some favourite retiring bundles.
For this challenge, I have chosen a bundle which while retiring, will certainly not be leaving my craft room, and I will continue to create with for many years, I’m sure. The Animal Outing bundle – the stamp set Animal Outing and coordinating Animal Friends Dies.
There’s a project I’ve had in my head for ages that I wanted to use this bundle for. I wanted to make these for On Stage swaps last year but didn’t have the time. Then I wanted to make them for Australia Day this year, but again, didn’t have time (yes, this really is the story of my life!) So this week I made the time and I finally made these little kangaroo treat holders!
This mob was actually pretty simple to make. I stamped the kangaroos (and friends) and coloured them simply with Stampin’ Blends. Then cut them out with the coordinating die.
Next I cut some leaves from DSP with the also about to retire Leaf Punch.
These are all attached to a very simple treat holder. It’s just a 3 x 3″ square of DSP that I have scored at 3/4″ and 2 1/4″, rotated 90 deg then scored again at 3/4″ and 2 1/4″. Cut in on the top and bottom short score lines and then fold the edges up and in to make a little open-topped box.
This perfectly fits a mini TimTam Bites packet. Now for my non-Australian readers who are asking what the heck is a TimTam, I just want to say I am very sorry for you that you do not know this particularly delicious Australian icon. In this country we take our TimTams very seriously. And if any of my Aussie readers haven’t had these mini versions, ermahgerd you are also missing out. I happened to snag a large bag of them from Costco this week, and it *might* not have been the best idea to have left the bag on my craft desk this week…
Anyways, they all came together quite quickly and they look so cute (and delicious) all lined up together. I’m so glad I finally made them!!
Now to be a good girl I thought I should also actually CASE the Catty project as well. Luckily the card at the top of this post was a great one to CASE. For my version I used more of the wood DSP on a card base, then a panel of Garden Lane DSP. I have to say that this is not a DSP I will be sad to see go. I have never really found my groove with it (I don’t really get along well with green). But this particular pattern I do like, and I think it looks great on this card!!
I used a panel of Pool Party behind this white panel cut with the branches from the Animal Friends Dies, another Kangaroo & Koala, and this appropriate sentiment from the newly released Sunshine Sayings digital release from SU!.
It’s funny but when this bundle was released I saw a lot of Australian demos complaining about the koala in the kangaroo’s pouch, which of course we know would never actually happen. But I think it is such an adorable image of mateship and helping someone out. And it was just so nice to have some Aussie animals to create with. As I said this set has been one I have had a ton of use out of and won’t be giving up.
Have you had a look at the retirement list yet? What bundle will you be sad to see go? Create something with a retiring bundle this week and share it over on our Facebook wall, we love to see your creations as well!
Next up on the hop this week is the super talented Michelle, who always has something gorgeous to share.
Thanks for stopping by.
As always, in these times, stay safe, stay home, wash your hands, and craft on.
Siobhan.
