Happy Friday, crafty friends! It’s great to be jumping in on a Friday to share our Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop for the month. Being February and a lovey-dovey kinda time, the theme for this month is “hearts”.
We aren’t big celebrators of Valentine’s Day in this house – we make a much bigger deal of our anniversary, and my husband’s birthday is two days after V-Day, so it gets a bit lost in the birthday noise. I do, however, always grab the opportunity to make a card for the occasion, of course, and it is an extra challenge because it needs to be lovey-dovey but masculine. Throw in the hearts theme for this blog hop, and this is the creation I came up with.
My surprise DSP love from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalogue from Stampin’ Up! has been the Well Suited collection. It’s so fabulously versatile, the colours and patterns are gorgeous. I’m always excited by a good stripe or check pattern, so falling in love with this paper was really inevitable. For my card I went with a blue, red, and white theme – hard to go wrong with that! The base card is Night of Navy and the red in the DSP is Poppy Parade.
I used the Playful Alphabet dies to cut the You + Me from Thick Whisper White cardstock layered with adhesive foam. I love using foam with die cuts, especially letters, to give them more dimension. To keep them straight, I lined them up on my work surface which has a grid on it, then used a piece of Press’n’Seal to lift them all up together, then place them down across my hearts.
The hearts I cut from Night of Navy Cardstock and the Well Suited DSP using the Stitched Be Mine dies. It took a bit of fiddling to get these overlapping and lined up the way I wanted them to, but it was worth the extra time. I didn’t get it perfect – unlike the way my husband lines up the stripes on wrapping paper, which is a sight to behold – but I did my best!
Next up on the hop tonight you’ll be returning to the ever fabulous Kelly, if you didn’t already start there. Make sure you hop along to see all the creations from our teamies that are playing along this month.
Thanks for stopping by,
