ESAD Blog Hop – Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues 2019

Good evening, Happy New Year, and welcome to your next stop in this month’s ESAD blog hop! This is the first of two blog hops I’m taking part in this evening – what better way to spend the post-Christmas downtime than crafting happily, particularly with new goodies.

Our theme this month is the new Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogues, which are absolutely full of gorgeous new products. I predict the biggest hit of this catalogue is going to be the Butterfly Gala suite, including this stunning Botanical Butterfly DSP that you can earn with a $90 purchase. I’ve used this DSP – along with another SAB freebie, the Organdy Ribbon – for a gift for a good friend of mine who has just had a beautiful baby girl.

I thought the butterflies made a rather delightful non-traditional baby card and wrapping. She’s a bit of a non-traditional girl, this friend of mine, so I know she will love this colour scheme of black, white, and Grapefruit Grove.

The black and white DSP and those butterflies are from the same DSP collection. Not only does it have beautiful patterns but it also has several sheets of stunning butterflies that can be punched out with the Butterfly Duet Punch, or fussy cut, as these larger butterflies have been here.

The ribbons on the gift wrapping are from the gorgeous Organdy Ribbon pack, also earned as a free item from Sale-A-Bration. They are such lovely ribbons I had to use two, in Grapefruit Grove and Highland Heather. The tag is simply another piece of DSP trimmed with the tag topper punch and a butterfly punched from back cardstock.

On both the card and the tag I’ve mounted the butterflies with a strip of adhesive but then folded up the wings slightly so they are raised off the page. It gives the butterflies even more presence.

I do so love a neat stack of beautifully wrapped presents!

While I was photographing the card and presents this little guy came by to have a look. Clearly he too was impressed with the Botanical Butterfly DSP. (I think he’s a moth rather than a butterfly, but still quite striking. Also, please don’t look at how dirty my window is here. It gets sprayed by the sprinkler!)

Last month we had a huge influx of monarch butterflies for a few days when the weather was a bit funny and there was lots of late Spring blossom about. To get this shot below I was up a ladder, leaning into the middle of a grass tree, absolutely covered in bugs myself. The things we do to satisfy our creative vision!!

Next up is Katrina Duffel with another inspiring creation, so hop right along. Make sure you keep hopping and check out the whole collection of projects. There’s nothing quite like a whole new catalogue of goodies to get those creative juices flowing!

Thanks for stopping by,

Siobhan.
