Welcome to another Sunday of CASE-ing the Catty! This week we are back CASE-ing the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue, and although I’m really not feeling the Christmas vibe yet, this week’s colour combination isn’t obviously Christmas-y and can be used for other occasions as well.
I’ve also used a Christmas themed set to make a totally non-Christmas themed card as well. My absolute favourite Christmas sets are always the ones that are versatile and can be used for non-Holiday purposes as well, and the Coming Home bundle is definitely shaping up to be one of those sets. For this second birthday project for an anything-with-wheels-loving boy I used the adorable little car from this bundle to create this fun and happy card.
I’ve also CASEd the layout of the card in the middle of the image above, which comes from page 24 of the Mini Catalogue. I’ve used Early Espresso as my base, then layers of Vellum and a striped Misty Moonlight pattern from Trimming the Town DSP, then a Whisper White panel and a parade of adorable Beetles in Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Misty Moonlight, and Old Olive. All of them are stamped on WW cardstock and coloured simply with Stampin’ Blends.
It’s not the easiest to see, but the cars are sitting on little “roads” created by cutting layers of white card with the hillside dies from the Home Together dies. The edges are darkened slightly with a Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blend and then the cars are arranged along the undulating layers with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My favourite Playful Alphabet dies make their obligatory appearance on this card with the 2! cut from Glimmer Red card. Even a boy card can have a little sparkle, right?!
I really love the way the parade of colourful cars worked out. One minor setback was discovering on my desk that the sheet of cars I had stamped out but not coloured in yet had been attacked by my two-year-old with “mummy’s markers” which she KNOWS she is not supposed to touch but just can’t help herself. Confronted with a bright pink car, I was going to discard this but instead decided to include it on the inside of the card as her contribution. Which I know her little bestie, the recipient of this card, will appreciate.
As always, we hope this gets your own creative juices flowing, and that you will create a project using this colour combo and share it with us over on the CASE-ing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook page.
Next up is the lovely Rachel, hop on over with me to see what fabulous creation she has come up with using this week’s colour combination.
Thanks for stopping by,
