CASE-ing the Catty #288 – Case a Kit Card

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend. We are in the middle of school holidays here, so after a week of there just being a lot of kids in my house all the time (yeah yeah, I know I made them, but still…) we headed off to the family farm for a couple of days of cousin time and canola fields. Even though I live in a semi-rural area it’s always so good to get out into the wide open countryside and breathe that country air – until it’s harvest time and breathing that air sets my hay fever off 😛

I’m afraid to say that with all this going on this week I only had very limited crafting time. But of course with that time I had to join in the CASE-ing the Catty challenge for the week. This week we are CASE-ing any kit card or project from either current catalogue.

For this week’s challenge I ended up CASE-ing not a project directly but rather the colours of the Gorgeous Posies Kit in the Annual Catalogue – Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride, Gorgeous Grape, and Highland Heather, and Gold foil.

And here is my card using those colours and a layout inspired by these kit cards.

I started by masking off and inking up a section in the four pink/purple colours, then spritzed them with some water, some Blackberry Bliss ink, and gold shimmer paint as well. Inking card like this is my favourite thing to do, I love seeing the beautiful colours all blend together and transform into a pretty creation like this.

For the bottom section I layered a white stitched circle with some leaves and flowers out of my stash (I keep a little bucket of die cuts sitting on my desk for when I need to grab something quickly, as I did in this case) and a cross in gold foil – this card is for a friend’s First Holy Communion. The beautiful ribbon behind this cluster is the Snowflake Splendour 1/4″ Ribbon from the Holiday Mini Catalogue. It is such a pretty, sparkly touch.

The front panel is layered on a mat of gold foil and then a base card in Blushing Bride. I couldn’t fit a sentiment on the front that made sense for the occasion and didn’t take up too much room, so I left the front sentiment free and added a stamp from a retired stamp set to the inside.

As always, we would love to see what you’re inspired to create this week, CASE-ing a kit project from either of the current catalogues. Upload your creation to the CASE-ing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook page by next Monday (October 12).
