CASE-ing the Catty #293 – CASE a card from p36 of the Mini Catty

Welcome, welcome, my crafty friends. This week has been a rollercoaster of a ride, and like every other week this year, has felt both 7 days and 7 years long. I’m very glad that I have been able to finish my week off with a day of crafting fun with On Stage @ Home with my Stampin’ Up! teammates, and then a little crafting for today’s post CASE-ing the Catty. This week we are CASE-ing the cards on page 36 of the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

While I fully appreciate how pretty all the snowflake designs for Christmas are, since I live in a place where it more often than not pushes towards 40 deg C on Christmas Day (that’s over 100 deg F), I just can’t bring myself to make Christmas cards using them. I do think this Snowflake Splendor DSP is lovely, though, and it reminds me of a certain Disney character which it seems all girls other than my own are crazy about. So with all things blue on my mind this week, I created this card for my niece’s birthday, drawing on the design of the card featured in the centre of page 36. I’ve turned it on its side and made it in a slimline size, but kept most of the other design elements.

I am fully on board with the slimline card craze, and I’ve made these to measure 8.5″ x 3.5″ (cut your cardstock to 8.5″ x 7″ and score in half). The base card is Night of Navy and the layers Balmy Blue and the Snowflake Splendor DSP.

I did break out a couple of retired goodies for this card – the sentiment is from Magical Day but was just too perfect not to use on this magical card. And I will never ever ever stop using my Large Number Dies. They are particularly perfect for kids’ cards.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out, so I made another one to match the doll (another Disney character which we are actually a big fan of in this house) I have bought for another niece’s birthday this week.

This time I went with a base of Crumb Cake, then In Good Taste and retired Tropical Oasis DSP, with some Real Red touches.

The sentiments for this card are from Itty Bitty Birthdays and Whale Done. I love how sometimes you can come up with the perfect sentiment by combining a couple of different sets.

So there’s my two magical cards for two fine little princesses. They were fun to make and I really do like the slimline size, especially with such beautiful DSP to showoff.

Next up this week is the fabulous Peta, hop on over with me to see what she has created to share with us. And keep hopping along to see what the whole crew has come up with this week.
