Hello, crafty people! I did promise I would be sharing more Halloween crafting fun, so I have a quick share for you today, a card I had a lot of inky fun making.
One of the fun things about making Halloween cards is you can play around with colours and images you wouldn’t normally use very much. For this card I chose a yellow – green – blue colour scheme on a Smoky Slate base card.
I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that I am a huge fan of inky cloud backgrounds, and this time I went with a fantastical yellow, green, and blue combo. I masked off the bottom portion of the card and then inked above it using my cloud stencil and various coloured inks, applied with a blending brush.
If you love the idea of making Halloween cards but don’t have any Halloween stamp sets, here’s a good tip – these critters are images I downloaded off the internet (these particular ones were a download available on The Hungry Jpeg), printed onto Whisper White card stock, and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. This can be a great way to get particular characters or images you want for a card even if you don’t have the right stamp for it. It’s a great way to make your other supplies stretch further.
Once coloured I fussy cut them out and arranged them on a vellum circle. The final touch was stamping this Happy Haunting sentiment from the Banner Year stamp set, which is a great set with a variety of images and sentiments.
I had such fun creating this. I’m going to package up some sweet Halloween treats and drop it off at a friend’s house for a little surprise.
🙂
Thanks for stopping by,
Siobhan.
