Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Banners, Banners, and More Banners

Happy Friday, crafty friends! So happy to have you here with me for your next stop on this month’s Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop. This month my fabulous teamies are focusing on one of my favourite elements to put on a card, banners.

Banners are such a fun addition to any crafty project, whether big and bold or small and subtle. For this hop I ended up making two cards that feature banners, one with big and bold banners and the other small and subtle. My first card also features some other favourites of mine – a rainbow, clouds, letter dies, and a touch of twine.

The banners are made using the brilliant new Banners Pick A Punch from the 2020 Holiday Mini Catalogue. This is a seriously awesome punch that gives you the ability to make three different sized banners in two different styles. Talk about versatility!

I punched 3/4″ strips in both Whisper White and also five rainbow colours – Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel, Granny Apple Green, and Gorgeous Grape. Using the Playful Alphabet Dies I punched out the letters for HAPPY and layered the white strips over the coloured ones so that the letters showed through in the rainbow colours. My happy little banners sit on a background panel of inked clouds with a layer of Blueberry Bushel In Color DSP spots sitting behind it. I know Blueberry Bushel is retired now but I just love this blue so will use up every bit of cardstock and DSP I have until it’s all, sadly, gone.

Once I finished this card I had the white HAPPY letters sitting on my desk, and I really don’t like to waste any little scrap. So I quickly put together this second card. I have made it as a Christmas card but you could really make this using any scrap of DSP and adapt the sentiment to be happy-any-occasion.

The DSP is from the new Snowflake Splendor collection. I love having Christmas collections in non-traditional colours, and this combination of cool blues and purples in this DSP is gorgeous. I’ve layered it with a little Rich Razzelberry which compliments it nicely, on a Whisper White base card.

And of course I had to put a banner on this card as well, so stamped and embossed the Christmas half of a “Christmas Wishes” sentiment from the Banner Year stamp set then cut it down to a 1/2″ strip and punched the two ends using the Banners Pick A Punch.

Next up on the hop is my fabulous friend, teamie, and sometimes road trip companion, Lisa. Hop on over with me to see her fabulous interpretation of the banner theme.
