CASE-ing the Catty #289 – Halloween!

CTC

You guys, it’s October! I know, I know, we are a week and a half into October already, but is anyone else shocked by that? Time has been so weird this year. There have been months that have flown in the blink of an eye, and there have been weeks that have felt like years (like the last one!). “This week has been a long year” is one of my favourite sayings. I often joke about how we historians are going to deal with this year in the future, and this tweet this week tickled my funny bone.

Speaking of bones, this week at CASE-ing the Catty we are seeking some spooky inspiration by CASE-ing the Halloween projects from the Stampin’ Up! 2020 Holiday Mini Catalogue. There are so many cute and fun projects with a Halloween theme in this catty, so you’re going to see a lot of variety in this week’s crew hop.

I love Halloween cards and projects. Sure, there’s no “need” for them, but they are just so much fun to create, and if we don’t do this hobby for the joy of creating, then why do we do it?? So I always make some Halloween cards purely for my own enjoyment. The one I’m sharing from you is actually a CASE of a Christmas card in the Holiday Mini, the card at the bottom right of this image from page 24.

I have spookified (definitely a word) the scene and turned into a Halloween card instead.

I’ve used a piece of Magic In This Night DSP as the background. Hot tip – ALWAYS buy the halloween themed DSP. You can have fun making Halloween things with minimal investment, the patterns are always super fun and different and can be used for lots more than just Halloween projects. They often make for great masculine and boy cards as well.

I inked a piece of Whisper White card with some green and brown inks, then cut two pieces of it using the hillside dies from Home Together. I seriously can not get enough of these dies, they are so awesome.

I’ve used the Home Together dies and Coming Home stamp set to make a spookier house, coloured with Stampin’ Blends. You can build all sorts of different houses using these dies, they are so versatile. I think they look quite like my house, so I’ll have to make some cards that have a Hightrees House look to them.

For the final touches I cut some of the trees from Basic Black card and white heat embossed this BOO! stamp from the Banner Year stamp set. I’m so pleased with how this turned out and it was AWESOME fun to create.

I have a few other spooky projects planned between now and the end of the month, so check back to see those posts. Better yet, subscribe to my blog and you’ll get a notification when new posts go up 🙂

If you are likewise spookily inspired this week (and you can create a Halloween themed project or transform a Halloween project in the catty into a non-Halloween themed creation) then share it with us over on the CASE-ing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook page. We love seeing what you have been making as well!
